First Community Water Purification Plant Inaugurated in Tamil Nadu

First Community Water Purification Plant Inaugurated in Tamil Nadu

We have set up our first Community Water Purification Plant (CWPP) in Tamil Nadu with the support of SOPAR Jana Vikasa. The water plant, established in Thatchur village, Maduranthakam block of Chengalpattu District provides purified safe drinking water at an affordable price of Rs 5 per 20 Litres to 432 families. 

Earlier, the communities had to travel for 15 kms to purchase water at Rs 35 per 20 litres. Now they are saving about 85% on their expenditure for water excluding the travel expenses.

Madhusudan Reddy, Manager, Safe Water Program, Bala Vikasa, inaugurated the Water Plant along with Bala Mohan Reddy, Program Coordinator, Safe Water Program, Bala Vikasa.
