CGI and Give India Partner With Bala Vikasa To Provide Livelihood Opportunities To COVID Widows

The COVID 19 pandemic has left many distressed and lonely. Women, especially rural young women, who have lost their spouses to COVID are left to fend for themselves. CGI joined hands with Give India, who partnered with Bala Vikasa in October, to provide livelihood opportunities to 120 rural young widows, giving them a chance to live a decent life and provide for their children.
As part of the project, Bala Vikasa will conduct training programs on basic tailoring skills to 25 rural widows. Through the project, Bala Vikasa with the support of CGI will provide financial support of Rs 15,000 each to 35 rural women entrepreneurs who lost their spouses and are now the sole breadwinner of the house. Bala Vikasa will identify young widows who are in need of help and will provide them with a seed fund of Rs 20000 to set up a business and live an independent life.
The project is currently in the initial stages of identifying COVID widows in our Women Integrated Development program villages.
