Bala Vikasa Distributed 330 Smart Phones To Rural Poor Youth in Telangana
As part of its COVID response activities, Bala Vikasa, with the support of SOPAR distributed smartphones to 330 rural poor youth in Telangana to bridge the digital gap and give them access to online classes, as schools remained closed till October due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Besides attending online classes, the students are using smartphones to upskill themselves in art and crafts, to learn additional courses, and to create livelihood opportunities for themselves.
“Schools remained closed for over a year now and I was worried about my future. I’d frequently miss online classes as I was using my mom’s phone and she had to go to work. I am thankful to Bala Vikasa and SOPAR for giving me a smartphone and instilling hope in me about my education,” said Supriya, Degree Student.
