200 Rural Poor Orphans Receive Financial Assistance Through Orphan Solidarity Program
Nearly 200 orphans, supported by Bala Vikasa’s Orphan Solidarity Club (OSC) and SOPAR were provided financial support worth over Rs 17 Lakhs, career counselling and health training during the Annual Vikasa Children Meeting held at the Bala Vikasa People Development Training Center, Warangal. Additionally, groceries kits worth Rs 2,10,000 were also distributed to the students.
Addressing the Vikasa Children (Orphans) virtually, a donor Sagar Abburi said “Students should focus on improving their unique skill sets that would help them to succeed in their life rather than trying to master everything. They should be encouraged to explore, identify and enhance their skills through as many activities and courses as possible.” All the donors present virtually, advised the children to work hard and assured their continuous support to the students in all aspects. They further expressed their happiness to have annual meetings where they can interact with the children, understand their struggles and also witness the impact they have in each student's life.
Ramana Gupta, Board Member of Bala Vikasa, interacted with the Vikasa Children, enquired on the various challenges they face and explored the possible solutions to their problems, during the meeting.
Many Vikasa Children expressed their gratitude to the donors and Bala Vikasa for their constant support not just financially but also emotionally. “Usually even parents don’t talk or discuss certain issues related to emotional health with their children as much as the people at Bala Vikasa discuss with us. I am so grateful for Bala Vikasa and our donors for constantly mentoring us in all aspects at all stages of our life. I feel very belonged and loved here,” Shyamalatha from Gangadevipally. Some of the Vikasa Young Adults who were associated with Bala Vikasa for over 10 years graduated in professional courses and secured jobs this academic year.
During the event, women coordinators of Bala Vikasa, who are the pillars of its Orphan Solidarity program were celebrated for their kindness and determination to ensure the well being of the Vikasa Children.
Shoury Reddy Singareddy, Executive Director, Bala Vikasa and Latha, Program Manager, Women Empowerment and Model Communities expressed their gratitude to all the donors for their support to the Vikasa Children. Bala Vikasa founder Bala T. Singareddy Gingras, Shobha Singareddy, Director, SOPAR also participated in the meeting virtually.
