Godfrey Philips India and Chola to support Water Conservation and Safe Water Initiative
In June this year, we joined hands with Godrej Philips India Limited to provide a sustainable livelihood for farmers through water conservation of 10 villages of Vinukonda mandal in the Guntur and Prakasam districts of Andhra Pradesh.
With the support of GPI, Bala Vikasa will support village-level farmers in the construction of 50 farm ponds, 40 borewell recharge structures in four to seven villages, construction of check dams, and undergoing tank de-siltation activities in two villages, and the construction of surface tank in a village. Our Water Conservation Team will also provide water quality and Volumetric Water Benefit Analysis (VWBA) in these villages.
To ensure that these proposed projects are implemented, Bala Vikasa will provide capacity-building workshops to 50 farmers on farm pond maintenance, and in executing four water conservation committees. Village-level orientation meetings will be held in all 10 villages to encourage farmers in adopting water conservation practices.
