Revival of the village tanks is necessary for the very revival of the rural economy and environment. This activity would definitely bring cheer in the lives of the rural families. To attain this result, the strategy of Bala Vikasa is to motivate, organize and encourage the farmers in different villages to participate in massive silt excavation program using modern machinery (Tractors and excavation machines) which would bring multiple, instant and assured benefits in social, economic, environmental etc. aspects to the total community. As an incentive to the farmers, Bala Vikasa provides the cost of excavation machinery at free of cost and ask the farmers to contribute the silt transportation cost (Tractor rents).
Within one year of the project implementation, the farmers will practically see the multiple benefits of the project. This successful experience would encourage the farmers to excavate the silt by themselves even when they don't receive support from NGO or government. This attitude will help in creating a tradition of regular silt excavation which helps in maintaining the tanks.
Bala Vikasa believes that no program will be successful unless the beneficiaries take active participation, contribute money, time, energy etc. and also take the leadership in planning, implementing and monitoring. Therefore, it is planned to implement the program with the active participation of the beneficiary communities in every step of the program.
