Statistical Report on the Activities
Raithu
Vikasa Sangam was founded in 1997
with the sole intention of supporting
the small and marginal farmers.
It is a known fact that agriculture
still plays a vital role in the
economy of our nation. At the same
time this sector is neglected very
much and the poor farmers are left
to their fate.
The situation had come to a stage
that individually they cannot amend
it. As per the analysis, if the
farmers have to ameliorate the situation,
there is a need to have a sense
of community, basic trust, unity,
leadership, responsibility, accountability
and cooperation among the farmers
Raithu Vikasa Sangam (RVS) is known
for the promotion of sustainable
development initiatives for the
benefit and with the active participation
of small and marginal farmers in
Warangal, Nalgonda, Karimnagar,
Mahabubnagar and Chittoor districts
of Andhra Pradesh.
Inspite of difficulties the cooperatives
that are supported by R.V.S. have
made tremendous progress. We could
note this progress both in terms
of finance and the attitudinal changes
among the members. In addition to
cooperative activities this year
R.V.S. supported financially Bala
Vikasa to implement the water tanks
desiltation program.
Cooperatives
It
is difficult to work with people
and that too with farmers’ community. Still R.V.S. had made
consciously this option. This program
of cooperatives is yielding good
results. Economic progress is substantial.
In terms of attitudes, it is a slow
process and now the difference is
felt.
