33 Village Development Committees are ready to work on model villages
A workshop was organized for the selected 33 villages from Warangal, Karim Nagar, Nagonda, Medak and Nizamabad districts of Andhra Pradesh. 240 Village Development Committee members participated in the workshop held today 21st March 2012 at Bala Vikasa People Development Training Center, Warangal. The program started with a knowledge sharing session on ABCD (Asset Based Community Development) approach conducted by Mr. Shoury Reddy. In the interactive training, members understood and acknowledged that it is by recognizing the potential of the people and the available resources in the village; one can truly lay the foundation for their development.
The documentary film on ‘Gangadevipally – A model village’ has inspired all the participants who are gearing up to put positive efforts in their own villages. In the plenary session after the video presentation, the participants expressed that it is unity, decentralized leadership, transparent financial management, women leadership, adherence to rules formulated by people, participation of people in all the development activities and the guidance received from Bala Vikasa, are the things that have helped in making Gangadevipally an ideal village at the national level.
Mr. Rajamouli, Sarpanch (elected village president) Gangadevipally and Mr. Hariprasad, Sarpanch of Medipally, village that had also bagged National award, shared their experience of playing a leadership role and the challenges they faced in the process development. All the partcipants showed much enthusiasm and exhibited readiness to take up the responsibility of making their villages into model villages in the path of Gangadevipally.
