Supporting the education of 610 needy children
610 college going students (children of widows) received scholarships amounting to Rs. 30 lakhs ($61,000) in a gathering held at Bala Bikasa, PDTC on 17th November, 2011. Mrs. Bala Theresa and Dr. Chandra Shekar talked to the youth and exhorted them to imbibe good values in life, be confident, work hard, improve their performance and grow in their talents.

Some of the children shared their touching stories. All children gathered are meritorious students who scored above 60% 0f marks in their respective courses. Bala Vikasa describes these students as ‘super smart children’ who only need some support to pursue their education. There were 72 Engineering students, 4 MBBS students and 3 PhD scholars among the attendees.

Bala Vikasa is supporting about 15,000 widows with various types of programs for their social emancipation, psychological healing and economic development.
