Village gets purified drinking water after 600 years
Much to the joy of people here, 600 years old Dichpally village, Nizamabad District, Andhra Pradesh got access to purified drinking water on the 4th February, 2012. A new water plant with 2000 LPH (liters per hour) capacity was inaugurated in the village by Mrs. Bala Teresa Gingras, Founder of Bala Vikasa and Mr. Andre Bourassa, President of Sopar. Incidentally this Water Purification Plant is donated by Mr. Marc Gingras who is the younger son of Mrs. Bala Theresa & Mr. Andre Gingras. Marc has made this donation in honour of his 6 months old son Samuel.
Executive Director Mr. Shoury Reddy explained to the villagers, who had gathered for the inaugural function, the importance of drinking purified water. Mr. Prathap, Program Officer advised the Water Committee members on how to maintain the Water Plant and ensure systematic supply of purified water to all the families. Mr. Upender coordinated the entire program.
Dichpally village has approximately 1200 households with about 5000 population. All sections of people, especially the aged, have been suffering from the ailments resulting from the consumption of hard water for many years. After learning about the water purification program of Bala Vikasa, from the neighboring villages in Nizamabad District, the people of Dichpally approached Bala Vikasa for help and they actively participated in setting up of water purification plant.
Lord Rama temple, located in Dichpally was built with white and black basalt stone sculptures in 14th century by Kakatiya Dynasty. Several ancient structures in stone, seen around the temple speak about the history of the place. So this 600 years old village fianlly got purified water.
