Decennial Celebrations of BalaVikasa – PDTC
Bala Vikasa People Development Training Center has commemorated its 10th anniversary on 25th January 2012. We have also celebrated 35 anniversary of SOPAR on this occasion. The program started at 10:30 am. About 1000 people who included BV staff, Women Coordinators, SHA (Self Help Association – Federation) committee members, village development and water committee members, CDD (Community Driven Development) course participants from 9 countries, partner organisations and friends attended the celebrations.
The event brought in great family spirit as the Founders Mrs.Bala Theresa Gingras and Mr. Andre Gingras participated in the event. President of Bala Vikasa Mr. Basani Marreddy attended the function. We also had three Board members of SOPAR, including President, Mr. Andre Bourassa, Vice President Mr. Louis Guay and Mr. Bernard Giroux. Executive Director Mr. Shoury Reddy presided over the celebrations.
Mr. Boda Venkata Ratnam, Vice Chancellor of Kakathiya University, Warangal was the Chief-guest at the gathering and gave a concluding message. He greatly appreciated BV-PDTC and said the courses taught here are unique and is laudable as they are attracting the development professionals from across the globe. He said that his university is interested in building relationship Bala Vikasa-PDTC. He proposed that we could jointly work on awarding ‘University Certificate’ to the development professionals who undergo ‘Community Driven Development’ training at PDTC.
Bala Vikasa staff sang very meaningful thematic songs during the program. People were touched by the song ‘Jana Vikasa Shikshnalayam’. The song explained the purpose and the achievements of PDTC. People were moved by the ‘Burra Katha’ a traditional Telugu folklore art performed by Bala Vikasa staff. The performing team narrated the story of Bala Vikasa and explained all its activities including that of BV-PDTC. The ‘Burra Katha’ presentation was not only very informative but also very entertaining to the audience. The Decennial Report of PDTC was released by Mr. Andre Gingras, the mentor of PDTC. He later gave a touching message expressing immense satisfaction over the growth and achievements and shared the future vision of PDTC.
