Bala Vikasa initiates action to make Warangal ‘a plastic free zone”
A workshop on the topic ‘protection of environment: control of plastic usage’ was organized on 31st March 2012, at Bala Vikasa People Development Training Center. About 250 participants which included Environment activists, Municipal authorities, NGOs, MSW students and Local traders participated in the meeting. The workshop was jointly organized by Bala Vikasa and forum for Citizens Against Pollution (CAP).
Mr. Shoury Reddy, Executive Director of Bala Vikasa convened the meeting and invited everyone to work towards elimination of plastic covers usage in the society. Prof. Rathan Singh, Prof. Laxma Reddy and Prof. Ramchandhraiah from National Institute of Technology and Mr. Vallampatla Nageshwar have shared their views and enlightened the gathering on the issue. They expressed that the excessive, unnecessary and unmindful use of plastic covers has led to creation of unclean surroundings and becoming health hazard for people leading to environment deterioration. The participants discussed on the role of different stakeholders in minimizing the use of plastic. They prepared action plans and the draft proposal to be submitted to the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
Mr. D. Vijay Bhaskar, Member of Legislative Assembly of Hanmakonda division of Andhra Pradesh had participated in the session. He said that everyone should join hands with Bala Vikasa and work towards making Warangal district a plastic free region.
